Cakewalk Pro Audio 8.0
This powerhouse MIDI and audio package keeps getting better and better. Cakewalk has been making MIDI software for the PC ever since the bad old days when Mac-heads (and even Atari weens) lorded it over the PC MIDI crowd, and serious audio recording was only a crazy dream. With the advent of the Pentium, and pro-quality audio cards, desktop audio became a reality, and Cakewalk Pro Audio added digital audio tracks to the mix. With this much experience on the MIDI scene, it's no surprise that Cakewalk's MIDI editing capabilities are awesome. Her audio side, however, has traditionally been solid and functional, but a bit limited, especially in the way of audio mixing and effects. With Cakewalk Pro Audio 8.0, however, both these areas have been vastly improved, and CPA can now really claim to be a complete recording workshop.
An improved onscreen mixer, non-destructive effects, and improved Web and video capabilities are a few of the new goodies in CPA 8.0. MIDI editing capabilities are wickeder than ever, but how does Cakewalk cut it on the multitrack audio front?
